Short-term Couples Therapy
Short-Term Couples Counseling is a great option for you if you are seeking a structured, goal-oriented couples counseling treatment. This service is intended for you if you and your partner feel as if overall you are doing well together, but need some guidance in an area or two. This space will create a safe opportunity for you both to share meaningful conversations, work on building an understanding together, work on your communication, and gain some practical skills on how to navigate your area of concern for the next 2-3 month period.
Together, we will identify a goal from the beginning and work intentionally toward it. Sessions focus on deepening your understanding related to the issue, strengthening your communication together around it, and helping you both come together and coming out stronger from what you are both looking to fine tune in your relationship.
Unlike longer-term Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy that offers a more in depth experience, this short-term therapy service is not intended to address longstanding relationship issues.
This service may be helpful for couples who:
Are generally doing well but want support around one specific issue or concern
May need guidance navigating a life transition or stressful season -pregnancy, a big move in together, experiencing some struggle in communication or making a joint decision, etc.
May want to improve basic communication and conflict management skills
Are preparing for marriage or another significant milestone
Have a single goal you both mutually agree you’d like to work and and want some structured guidance around it.
Through Short-Term Couples Counseling, you will:
Identify a clear and realistic goal for treatment
Develop practical and basic communication and conflict-management skills
Increase understanding of each other's perspectives and needs
Learn strategies for managing stress and navigating challenges together
Join together as a team to tackle the problem/concern
Leave with tools you can continue using beyond therapy

This Service Is Not Appropriate For:
Because this is a brief, focused model, Short-Term Couples Counseling is not recommended for couples experiencing:
Chronic or longstanding relationship distress (more than 6 months ongoing)
Repair work from infidelity or breach of trust
High-conflict relationships with frequent escalations and intense arguments
Situations involving emotional, physical, or sexual abuse
Ongoing domestic violence or coercive control in the relationship
Severe mental health concerns or active substance abuse requiring a higher level of care
What to Expect
Short-Term Couples Counseling typically consists of a treatment plan with 10–12 weekly sessions over approximately 2–3 months. Working on one shared goal or transition. Throughout our work together, we regularly assess progress and determine whether your concerns have been adequately addressed or whether ongoing therapy, such as Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, would be more beneficial. Debido a que se trata de un modelo breve y enfocado, la Consejería de Pareja a Corto Plazo no se recomienda para parejas que estén experimentando:
Problemas relacionales crónicos o de larga duración.
Ciclos repetitivos de desconexión emocional que persisten desde hace tiempo.
Recuperación tras una infidelidad o rupturas significativas de confianza.
Relaciones con altos niveles de conflicto y frecuentes escaladas.
Situaciones de abuso emocional, físico o sexual.
Violencia doméstica o dinámicas de control y coerción.
Problemas graves de salud mental o consumo activo de sustancias que requieran un nivel de atención más especializado.
